Meet

Catherine Ndong

Psychotherapist & Founder of Malaga Therapy

I have always been fascinated by people, cultures and the stories that shape our lives.

For more than twenty years, this curiosity has taken me far beyond the therapy room — into humanitarian projects, international communities, publishing, education and cross-cultural environments across the world.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals, couples, families, students, professionals, humanitarian workers, community leaders, expatriates and internationally mobile individuals from every continent.

While cultures, languages and life experiences may differ, I have found that many human questions remain remarkably universal:

Who am I? Where do I belong? How do I navigate change? How do I build meaningful relationships? How do I move forward after difficult experiences?

These questions continue to shape both my therapeutic work and my broader professional journey.

MY APPROACH

I believe therapy is not about providing ready-made answers.

It is about creating a space where people feel heard, understood and respected as they explore their experiences, make sense of their challenges and identify the changes they wish to make in their lives.

Whether someone is navigating a major life transition, cultural adaptation, relationship difficulties, family challenges, emotional distress or questions of identity and belonging, my role is to accompany that process with professionalism, curiosity and care.

Identity

and Belonging

Expatriate and International Life

Cultural

Adaptation

Cross-cultural

Relationships

Based in Málaga, on Spain's Mediterranean coast, I work with local and international clients, offering therapy in English, French and Spanish.

My goal is simple: to provide a thoughtful, professional and supportive space where people can better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships and move through life's challenges with greater clarity, confidence and self-awareness.

An International and Cross-Cultural Perspective

Much of my professional approach has been shaped by international experience.

Over the years, I have worked with people from diverse cultural, social, religious and professional backgrounds across multiple countries and continents.

These experiences have strengthened my understanding of:

Multicultural

Families

Life Transitions

Personal Meaning and Purpose

Emotional Wellbeing Across Cultures

They have also reinforced my belief that understanding ourselves often becomes even more important when we find ourselves living, working or building relationships across cultures.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Founder & Editor

of Therapies Magazine

As the Founder and Editor of Therapies Magazine, I am committed to making conversations about mental health, wellbeing and human experience more accessible to a wider audience.

The magazine brings together perspectives from therapists, practitioners, educators and contributors from different backgrounds, encouraging thoughtful discussion around psychology, relationships, wellbeing, culture and personal growth.

Author and Creator of Therapeutic Resources

I am also the author of therapeutic journals, guided workbooks and educational resources designed to support reflection, emotional wellbeing and personal growth.

Alongside resources for individuals, couples and families, I have developed professional tools for therapists and mental health practitioners, including planners, reflective journals and practice-support materials.

My aim is to create practical resources that help extend reflection beyond therapy sessions and make psychological knowledge more accessible and useful in everyday life.

Humanitarian

Leadership

I am the Founder and Director of Action dans le Monde, an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to education, health, community development and humanitarian initiatives.

For more than two decades, this work has brought me into contact with people, organisations and communities across multiple countries and continents.

Working within diverse cultural environments has deepened my understanding of resilience, adaptation, social systems and the realities people face in different parts of the world. These experiences continue to inform my work as a therapist today.

Theology and Anthropology

Alongside psychotherapy, my interests in theology and anthropology have contributed significantly to my understanding of human experience.

These disciplines explore questions of identity, culture, meaning, belief, relationships and community — themes that frequently emerge within therapeutic work.

Together, they provide a broader perspective on how people make sense of themselves, their relationships and the world around them.

Creativity

and the Arts

Creativity has remained an important part of my life for many years through music, writing, publishing and artistic expression,

continually enriching my appreciation for meaning, beauty and the diverse ways people communicate their inner world.

Why I Created Malaga Therapy

After years of working internationally, I wanted to create a space where people could slow down, reflect and receive professional support in a thoughtful and culturally aware environment.

Malaga Therapy was born from that vision.

Today, it serves individuals, couples, families, expatriates and international residents seeking a professional therapeutic space that values both personal experience and cultural context.

I believe every person carries a unique story.

Therapy offers an opportunity to explore that story with honesty, reflection and support. And every therapeutic journey begins with a conversation.
